The CIS focuses on promoting greater understanding of the history, culture, economy, politics, security considerations and foreign relations of the State of Israel. The CIS is accomplishing this mission by focusing on three primary activities: education, media outreach and policy studies/reviews.
In the educational sphere, the CIS is playing a central role in fostering education about Israel within the AJU community, at other regional universities, among Jewish schools and synagogue congregations, organizations, within non-Jewish communal organizations, state and local governments and the corporate community.
In the area of Media Outreach, the CIS acts as a source of information and analysis on contemporary events in Israel and Israeli policies with the objective of presenting “the view from Jerusalem” on a wide range of issues of interest to the media in a balanced, academic manner and as a counter to much of the extreme hostile anti-Israeli sentiments exhibited by portions of the media and academic communities.
In the sphere of Policy Studies/Reviews, the CIS produces high quality reviews/analysis of current Israeli policies in a wide variety of areas (including Israel-Diaspora ties) with a view toward contributing productive ideas to the policy debate.
